Kubernetes Asset Mangement -  Investment Management Methodology

The management team at Kubernetes Asset Management LLC applies a goal-directed behavior feedback framework as it is particularly critical in the world of investment management. Communication and feedback are essential decision tools in our investment management.

The investment manager’s goal is simple:

  1. To generate the best possible return given prevailing market conditions
  2. To control the risk of loss
  3. Have a system of communication and feedback to assist our decision making process

We believe the advantage of a systematic methodology is designed to mitigate risk and optimize returns.  Achieving this goal, however, while safely navigating the markets —itself a complex adaptive system—is no easy task.  Our constant immersion in both objective and subjective phenomena—the temporary consensus and observation of values exemplified by changing stock prices and participant sentiment —necessitates a scientific and objective goal-directed investment methodology, counter-intuitive as this may seem. The intellectual origins of feedback, control and communication systems has its origin in an scientfic intellecutal movement known as Cybernetics which advances an interdisciplinary approach toward understanding systems of human design and participation i.e., fractional banking systems,  and other systems which are complex and not easilty understood by its participants. Our attempt will be to continously monitor and assess the market environment to better able us to mitigate risk and guide our investment decisions and client goals.

"We have decided to call the entire field of control and communication theory, whether in the machine or in the animal, by the name of Cybernetics, which we form from the Greek κυβερνήτης [Kubernetes] or steersman."

Norbert Weiner (MIT Press) 1947

Until recently, there was no existing word for this complex set of ideas, and in order to embrace the whole field by a single term I felt constrained to invent one. Hence "Cybernetics," which I derived from the Greek work kubernetes, or steersmans, the same Greek word from which we eventually derive our word "governor."

Norbert Weiner (The Human Use of Human Beings) 1950
